Preschool Ministry

Laying the Foundation For Faith

Our Ministires

Growing in Faith, One Step at a Time

Cherishing the Early Years of Discovery and Learning

Here in the preschool department, we have one of the first opportunities to share the gospel with children. Through our classes, we make sure the kids know that the stories we are reading are true – real accounts of what happened in history, and that they are God’s word. We also discuss the importance of each story, exploring the “why” behind it and connecting it back to Christ. Laying a Biblical foundation for the kiddos week after week, answering their questions, and helping them to see how the Bible is a guide for us is key in the preschool department.

Character building as a reflection of Jesus is intertwined throughout our time as well. Young children are still learning how to interact with others and how to respond in various situations. When opportunities arise, our teachers take the time to teach kids how we can show Jesus and show grace in response to these situations. Our teachers model the actions and character we want to instill in our children.

Most importantly, your children will be shown love during their time in the preschool department. Starting from the youngest babies and up through the ages, whether it is a child’s first time visiting or a child who has grown up with us, they will be treated with love and respect. All of our volunteers and teachers love working with the kiddos, and you will see lots of smiles and laughs throughout our day.

Sundays

On Sunday mornings, we offer several classes. Starting at 9:15, we have Sunday School, which consists of nursery, a 2-year-old class, a 3-year-old class, and a PreK/Kindergarten class. Both older classes use the Gospel Project for our curriculum. The Gospel Project teaches Biblical events in chronological order. Each month, we learn a biblical truth and a Bible verse to go along with our lessons. For our younger friends, we offer a nursery class.

Following Sunday School, Extended Session is held during the 10:30 worship service. Our nursery consists of our youngest friends, infants – 1yr of age, the Toddler room is for our mobile friends 1-2yrs old, and our 3/4yr old class. We also have Children’s Church during the 10:30 am worship service. Children in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade are invited to attend Children’s Church. This is a special transitional time when kids are getting used to joining parents in service, yet it is still a lesson geared toward littles. For this class, children join families in the sanctuary for the praise and worship portion, then prior to the sermon, Pastor Chris will dismiss kids to meet in the front of the church and be escorted to the preschool building.

Wednesdays

On Wednesdays, we start our evenings with music at 5:40. Mr. Dan leads the children in worship with song and also has fun activities to teach scale, pitch, and beat, laying the foundation of music. Following music, we offer two classes: AWANA Puggles for 3- and 4-year-olds and AWANA Cubbies for PreK/K friends.

Additionally, we provide care for our younger friends at this time. AWANA teaches children scripture in a fun, kid-friendly manner to hide God’s Word in our hearts.
